Vishal Bhardwaj's upcoming whodunnit series Charlie Chopra and the Mystery of Solang Valley has a special connection with Phoebe Waller-Bridge's acclaimed comedy show Fleabag.

The murder mystery series' lead Wamiqa Gabbi said she was inspired by Phoebe's character in the British show and used it as a reference point in playing the detective Charlie Chopra.

Like Phoebe's Fleabag, Charlie also breaks the fourth wall in the series to establish a direct connection with the audience.

Talking about the approach she took with the character, Wamiqa shares, "In our series, my character breaks the fourth wall to create an atmospheric connection with the audiences directly."

"The last time I do remember seeing and being greatly inspired where a similar approach was used but in a different genre was Fleabag where Pheobe’s character would stare into the camera to connect with the audience during awkward situations. I did use this as a reference point for myself," she added.

Apart from Wamiqa, the series has an ensemble cast of Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Neena Gupta, Lara Dutta, Gulshan Grover, Vivaan Shah and Imaad Shah among others.

The series premieres on SonyLIV on September 26.
