Bappi Lahiri postage stamp and cover announced by World Book of Records

On the late composer Bappi Lahiri’s birthday, the World Book of Records (WBR), London sent a letter to the Lahiri family announcing that the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communication, Government of India is to soon issue a special cover and postage stamp based on the late music icon. 

Bappi Lahiri passed away earlier this year in Mumbai. He was 69.

The news of the postage stamp and cover was conveyed on behalf of Barrister Santosh Shukla, (CEO, WBR) by music director Usmaan Khan (President, Mumbai WBR) to the Lahiri family.

Chitrani Lahiri, wife of Bappi Lahiri, daughter Rema Lahiri Bansal and grandson Swastik Bansal received the letter from Bappi Lahiri. 

 Rema Lahiri shared, “My father was my mentor, my teacher, my guide, my strength. He is gone too soon. It was so unexpected. We still feel his presence among us.” 

Swastik Bansal aka RegoB, Bappi Lahiri's grandson, who cut the cake, said, "I miss grandpa. Now I have to take the legacy forward and make him proud. I want his blessings always."

Usmaan Khan expressed that WBR will host a ceremony to celebrate the Bappi Lahiri postage stamp and cover.
