Drawn towards drama: Shweta Tripathi Sharma on taking up a role in Escaype Live

Actor Shweta Tripathi Sharma, who will be seen in Disney + Hotstar's Escaype Live, says that interesting characters and emotional quotient are the hooks for her to take up a role.

"I am drawn towards drama," she shares. "How I emotionally respond when I listen to a story, how I connect to a character, these are extremely important things besides the script. The makers matter too. Because if your chef isn't good, even with the best ingredients the food might not taste as you imagined," says Shweta.

Shweta will be playing the role of Sunaina in the series. Stating that she "has never played such a happy character", she reveals, "Sunaina is sunshine in human form. She's someone who's not going to lie to you because she loves you or cares about you. She'll always give you her honest opinion. I have never played a very happy character so that was one of the biggest changes."

Escaype Live is a story of a bunch of content creators, with different paths but one goal - to produce viral content to emerge victorious in a life-changing competition announced by the hottest new app in the country called Escaype Live.

The nine-episode series is written by Jaya Mishra and Siddharth Kumar Tewary. It features actors like Siddharth, Jaaved Jaaferi, Swastika Mukherjee, Plabita Borthakur, Waluscha D Souza, Ritvik Sahore, Sumedh Mudgalkar, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, Jagjeet Sandhu, Rohit Chandel and child actor Aadyaa Sharma amongst others.

The show is produced under Siddharth Kumar Tewary's One Life Studios. It will start streaming on Disney + Hotstar from May 20.
