Taapsee Pannu-starrer Shabaash Mithu will release in theatres on February 4, 2022.

Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film is a biopic of Indian women's cricket captain Mithali Raj. The release date was announced on the occasion of Mithali's birthday.

Shabaash Mithu chronicles 'the highs and lows, setbacks and moments of euphoria' of Mithali’s life. The film is written by Priya Aven and produced by Viacom18 Studios. It will also feature Vijay Raaz in a key role.

Mithali Raj was born in a Tamil family in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. After playing domestically, she made her One Day International debut for India in 1999. She led the Indian side to the Women's Cricket World Cup final twice. She is also the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket.

Shabaash Mithu is Taapsee's fifth sports-centric film, after Aadukalam, Soorma, Saand Ki Aankh and Rashmi Rocket. Her upcoming Hindi releases are Dobaaraa, Blurr and Looop Lapeta.
