Oscars 2026:
Another historic Oscars ceremony unfolded at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday as Paul Thomas Anderson-directed action-thriller film One Battle After Another earned six awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. On the other hand, Sinners, which scripted history by getting nominated in 16 categories, achieved four wins. The vampire drama won Ryan Coogler his first Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and Michael B Jordan a trophy for Best Actor in his first nomination. In a major feat, DP Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first woman in the Academy history to win the best-cinematography Oscar for Sinners.
Guillermo Del Toro's ambitious Frankenstein was also awarded for Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and for Production Design.
Amy Madigan, who played the sinister Aunt Gladys in Zach Cregger's Weapons, took home the award for Best Supporting Actress. Notably, Sean Penn who scored the Best Actor award for his One Battle After Another role, earned the coveted position of becoming the fourth man ever to win three acting Oscars after Jack Nicholson, Walter Brennan and Daniel Day-Lewis.
This year marked a significant milestone in Oscars history as it included an award for Best Casting which was grabbed by Cassandra Kulukundis for One Battle After Another.
KPop Demon Hunters, which earned critical and commercial acclaim and also became Netflix's most-watched film in the streamer's history, won Oscar for Best Animated Feature as expected while its foot-tapping number 'Golden' got the Best Original Song award, becoming the first K-pop song ever to get the recognition.
For the first time in 14 years, the Academy witnessed a tie in the Live-Action short category. The Singers and Two People Exchanging Saliva got their awards one after another, stunning the members of the auditorium.
Norway's Sentimental Value, which has been making waves across the world for its story and screenplay, was awarded Best International Feature.
