Netflix, dropped the official trailer for Thrash, starring Phoebe Dynevor alongside Whitney Peak and Djimon Hounsou, on Thursday. Written and directed by Tommy Wirkola, the film also stars Alyla Browne, Stacy Clausen, Costa D’Angelo, Amy Mathews, Elijah Ungvary, Dante Ubaldi, Jon Prasida, Gemma Dart, Akosia Sabet, Sian Luxford, and Sami Afuni.
The trailer begins with a coastal town being battered by a Category 5 storm, leading to the arrival of starving sharks in a flood. Lisa, a pregnant woman (Phoebe Dynevor), gets stuck in the car, screams, ‘Help.'
Hounsou says in the trailer, ‘’Sharks on the loose in a Category 5 storm. Let’s Move!’’ Later, Lisa, (Phoebe Dynevor), affirms while pushing her forthcoming child, “I am not gonna have him die before he gets to take his first breath’’ and the trailer ends with the jump scare shot of a shark.
In an interview with Collider, Dynevor shared that she is very excited for this movie. ‘’It’s big, it's a shark, and it's a hurricane. It’s all of those things, and I’m a nine-months pregnant lady who has to go through a lot in those 24 hours,” she added.
The film was initially set to be released with the title Beneath the Storm in 2024 theatrically in the United States by Sony Pictures. However it was later titled Thrash, instead.
Thrash, produced by Adam McKay, Kevin Messick and Tommy Wirkola, is set for its premiere on Netflix on April 10 this year. On the work front, Dynevor’s film Remain (2027) will be released in theatres.
