Mother Gothel has arrived. Confirming speculations that Kathryn Hahn has been cast as the key villain in live-action Tangled film, the actor herself shared a video of herself wearing a shirt full of the character's pictures with the caption, “OOTD, Mother Gothel.” As reported earlier, Australian actor Teagan Croft (Titans and True Spirit) and Milo Manheim (Disney Channel's Zombies) have been cast as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.

With this role, Kathryn Hahn will once again be channeling her inner sinister side after her critically-acclaimed role as Agatha Harkness in WandaVision (2021) and Agatha All Along (2024).

Helmed by The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey, the upcoming film has been scripted by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do RevengeThor: Love and ThunderI Know What You Did Last Summer).

Tangled (2010) tells the story of Rapunzel, a princess with long hair that has magical powers to heal people. She is kept away from the public's eye and locked in a high tower by Mother Gothel. One day, she secretly escapes with the help of Flynn Rider and goes on an adventure exploring the world she has never seen. However, Mother Gothel has sinister motives and is ready to get back Rapunzel at any cost.

The film, directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, was critically and highly commercially acclaimed upon release, earning over $591 million worldwide. Its success spawned a franchise, including a short film, Tangled Ever After (2012), a video game, a stage musical, and a television series which premiered in 2017.
