Recently, we reported about Curry Barker being set to direct a horror film titled Anything But Ghosts after the humongous success of Obsession. Starring Barker himself alongside Aaron Paul, Violet McGraw, and Bryce Dallas Howard, Anything But Ghosts marks the filmmaker's second directorial venture. Earlier this Friday, Curry Barker announced another horror film.
The upcoming project brings Barker back together with Universal Film Group and Blumhouse Productions after their collaboration on Obsession. Barker is also set to produce it for Universal Film Group and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.
Sharing his excitement for the project, Barker said that he is "thrilled" about reuniting with the aforementioned studios for it. "They have built the kind of home for bold, original storytelling that every filmmaker dreams of, and I could not imagine better collaborators for this film," the Obsession filmmaker wrote about his collaborators.
Meanwhile, NBCUniversal Entertainment's chairperson Donna Langley appreciated the filmmaker's "exceptional ability to tap into the cultural zeitgeist, pairing an innate instinct for what resonates with audiences with extraordinary filmmaking prowess." Langley added, "Barker’s talent is redefining what’s possible and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with him."
On the other hand, Jason Blum and James Wan of Blumhouse-Atomic Monster expressed their pride about the collaboration with Barker. "Getting to put this project in front of the fans his work speaks to is the whole reason we do this," Blum and Wan said in a joint statement.
The yet-untitled film is a co-produced venture between Steven Schneider and Roy Lee's banner Spooky Pictures and Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks’ Divide/Conquer. Universal Film Group is attached to it as the worldwide distributor for the film.
The makers are yet to reveal plot specifics.
