Off Campus creator and writer Louisa Levy has revealed that the upcoming second season will move further away from a single-couple narrative and embrace a more ensemble-driven format, even as it continues to follow the story of fan-favourite pair Hannah (Ella Bright) and Garrett (Belmont Cameli).
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy explained that while season one introduced audiences to multiple interconnected storylines, season two expands that structure further to create more space for the wider cast.
According to Levy, season one already experimented with ensemble storytelling through episodes that followed different characters and parallel arcs. She pointed to episode five as an example, where characters such as Tucker (Jalen Thomas Brooks), Hannah, Garrett, Jules (Julia Sarah Stone) and Logan (Antonio Cipriano) were each given individual storylines within a traditional multi-track television format.
For the new season, however, the series intends to push that approach further. Levy clarified that Hannah and Garrett’s story is far from over but said their romance will no longer function as the central narrative engine in the same way it did previously. “We’re not just dropping them off and letting them ride off into the sunset,” she said, adding that audiences will continue to see moments from their relationship, their life as a couple and the challenges they navigate together.
At the same time, she noted that season two’s emotional and narrative momentum will shift toward Allie (Mika Abdalla) and Dean (Stephen Kalyn), whose relationship will take on a larger role in shaping the season. "It doesn’t mean that we’re not going to have many romantic moments for Allie and Dean as they spearhead their season," she said.
Levy added that adopting a stronger ensemble model allows the series to spend more time inside the world and community already established in season one. “We don’t have to introduce anybody; we just get to live in it,” she said.
Prime Video recently began production on the second season of Off Campus, with Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis as the protagonists. A premiere date for season 2 is yet to be announced.
