As per Elle Kennedy's novel series, The Mistake comes right after The Deal, which follows the story of John Logan and Grace Ivers. However, Prime Video decided to move with the third book, The Score, for Off Campus season 2, which tells the story of Allie and Dean, before coming to Logan and Grace.
But just as we got glimpses of Dean's and Allie's romance in season 1, season 2 is set to serve an introduction to the chemistry between Logan and Grace, setting up the stage for season 3. With Grace Ivers already introduced as just a character in season 1, Antonio Cipriano, who essays Logan, says season 2 will have a lot more than just hints.
Speaking to People, Cipriano said omitting Logan's and Grace's romance from season 1 was the best decision. "I’m glad that you don’t see him in love in the first season. I think it’s cool that you get to know who he is as a person and the struggles that he’s going through, so that when that comes in, when you meet Grace and when he gets to do that, she gets to take down his walls, and you get to see even more of that," he explained.
Cipriano was also particularly excited about sharing the screen with India Fowler, who has been cast as Grace. "Obviously, we have a Grace now, and that’s very exciting. So there’s going to be a little bit of that [in Season 2], and we’ll just see how it all plays out." Further going into detail about her casting, he added, "She’s going to bring so much to the show. She’s going to elevate it, and I’m so excited for Logan's and Grace’s dynamic. It’s perfect."
Before Fowler came onboard as Grace, Cipriano read with “three amazing and completely individual, different versions of Grace". Despite all three of them being "incredible" according to Cipriano, it was Fowler's version and "quirkiness" that made her feel like “she truly fell right out of the books.”
He continued, “When we were watching the videos back, some of the chem reads, after having done it that day, [co-showrunners] Louisa [Levy] or Gina [Fattore], one of them said, ‘It’s cool, because you can tell she has no idea what’s going to come out of her mouth next,’ which is so Grace, and it was so perfect."
Prime Video recently began production on the second season of Off Campus, starring Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn as Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis, respectively. A premiere date for season 2 is yet to be announced.
