Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued its phenomenal run at the Indian box office on its first Saturday, posting a massive jump in collections after a strong Friday. The Marvel blockbuster has now crossed Rs 180 crore in India within three days while racing past Rs 5,700 crore at the worldwide box office.
According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 71.25 crore net and Rs 85.21 crore gross in India on Day 3 (Saturday) across 17,703 shows, registering a robust 77 per cent occupancy. This marks a 44.4 per cent jump over Friday's Rs 49.35 crore net, indicating that audience demand remained exceptionally strong over the weekend.
With this, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has amassed Rs 181.20 crore net and Rs 215.47 crore gross in India in just three days. The film has also grossed Rs 2,900 crore in overseas markets, taking its worldwide gross collection to Rs 5,725 crore.
After opening to a stellar Rs 60.60 crore net on Thursday, the film witnessed a routine drop to Rs 49.35 crore on Friday before bouncing back emphatically on Saturday. The weekend surge suggests that the superhero spectacle is headed for an even bigger Sunday, with the film now firmly on course to breach the Rs 250 crore India net mark during its opening weekend.
The English version continues to lead the film's performance in India, with premium formats and 3D screenings contributing significantly to the overall collections. The Hindi-dubbed version has also recorded strong footfalls, while the Tamil and Telugu versions have added to the film's pan-India success.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which the world forgets Peter Parker's identity after Doctor Strange's spell. The film sees Tom Holland reprise his role as the friendly neighbourhood superhero, alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Florence Pugh, Tramell Tillman, Marisa Tomei and Mark Ruffalo.
