After reports that Oscar-nominated filmmaker Tim Fehlbaum will helm the English remake of the French thriller Boite Noire (Black Box) for Netflix in late 2025, the latest update from the makers is that writers Adam Gyngell and Fred Fernandez-Armesto will pen the adaptation.

A paranoid thriller, Black Box revolves around an analyst who uncovers some chilling audio anomalies and investigates the black box in the aftermath of a catastrophic plane crash. While the authorities refuse to acknowledge his findings, his probe provokes powerful forces to stop him before he gets to the root of a shocking conspiracy.

Gyngell and Fernandez-Armesto are writing partners whose credits include Idris Elba-led Hijack for Apple TV. Apart from their partnership with Netflix, the writer-duo is currently developing series and feature projects at Carrousel Studios and Thunder Road.

Meanwhile, 1.21's Andrew Mittman, Thibault Gast, Wassim Beji, and Matthias Weber are producing the Black Box remake.
