The film Dhruva Natchathiram, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and starring Vikram, continues to be in discussion despite the years-long delay in its release. Recently, we reported about Gautham informing the Madras High Court of his attempt to ensure its release on June 18, Thursday, thereby earning further time to settle the financial issues that he has with his investors.

According to the latest report from The Hindu, Gautham Menon has filed a plea at the court where he sought 30 additional days for the release. Justice K Kumaresh Babu is expected to hear the plea from the filmmaker for release time extension on June 15, Monday. Further, on Monday, a Division Bench comprising justices K Govindarajan and P Velmurugan will give orders about prior appeals from investors, K Premkumar and K Punniamoorthy.

Earlier, the investors filed appeals at the High Court where they challenged an April 30 order from Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy allowing for the release of Dhruva Natchathiram by June 15, Monday. The long delay in its release has been attributed to the legal troubles stemming from the financial issues concerning the film. The investors got into a distribution deal with Escape Artists Motion Pictures' Madan Pandy back in 2016 for Gautham's film Enai Noki Paayum Thota, starring Dhanush. A monetary dispute ensued between the investors and Gautham over the Dhanush starrer, causing the initiation of arbitral proceedings. Later, they arrived at a compromise, backed by an MoU signed in 2018, whereby Madan gave the investors 50 per cent of his Dhruva Natchathiram rights.

Madan gave the rights to them as he was among the partners of Kondaduvom Entertainment alongside Gautham and Reshma Ghatala. Thus, the investors filed a lawsuit at the court back in 2023, only to obtain an interim order preventing the film's release.
