Practical Magic 2 teaser trailer: The Owen sisters go to the root of the curse to save their lineage

Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are back as sisters Gillian and Sally Owens with magical powers 25 years after the first film in the teaser of Practical Magic 2. With Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing also reprising their beloved roles as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny, the film has also added Joey King to its lead cast.

After the first film established that anybody the Owen sisters love dies, the teaser trailer of Practical Magic 2 shows Sally's daughter, played by Joey King, uncovering her magical powers. Meanwhile, the sisters, along with their aunts, go back to the roots, from Massachusetts to the United Kingdom, to confront the cause of their lineage's curse.

The original 1998 film, based on Alice Hoffman’s novel, followed the sisters as they grappled with a family curse that threatens their chance at love. Among the new faces joining the sequel are Lee Pace (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Solly McLeod (The Dead Don’t Hurt), and Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai).

Practical Magic 2 is directed by Susanne Bier (Bird Box, The Perfect Couple) with a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, co-writer of the original, and Succession writer Georgia Pritchett. The Practical Magic films are based on the 2021 novel The Book of Magic by Alice Hoffman. Warner Bros. has set the release date for September 18, 2026.
