In a post-pandemic futuristic world, Hig (Jacob Elordi) and an ex-Marine (Josh Brolin) defend their space and each other despite differences in the trailer of Ridley Scott's The Dog Stars. The film, from 20th Century Studios, is based on Peter Heller’s 2012 post-apocalyptic thriller novel of the same name.
The trailer shows a near-futuristic world, with Hig as a solitary civilian pilot who has lost his wife and only has his pet dog. He, along with an ex-Marine, tries to defend an airstrip in Colorado from invaders. A crash landing at a secluded ranch introduces the duo to Cima (Margaret Qualley) and her father, a protective rancher (Guy Pearce). Their chance encounter and further collaborative effort give them hope for a bright and intelligent future.
Allison Janney and Benedict Wong also star in The Dog Stars. The film is scripted for screen by Mark L Smith, known for his work on The Revenant. Scott and Michael Pruss will produce for Scott Free alongside Smith and Cliff Roberts.
Initially slated for release on March 27, the film's release was pushed to August 28. But in the trailer, the release is mentioned as August, without a mention of the date.
