The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has mapped out the timeline for its upcoming awards cycles, confirming that the Oscars will remain a mid-March affair in 2027 before shifting to an earlier slot the following year.
The 99th edition of the ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, March 14, 2027, while the milestone 100th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 5, 2028. Both ceremonies are set to begin at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
In addition to announcing the ceremony dates, the Academy unveiled key milestones for the 2026–2027 awards season. The eligibility window will open on January 1, 2026, and close on December 31, 2026. Submissions across general entry categories, including Best Picture and Animated Feature, must be completed by November 12, 2026, just days ahead of the Governors Awards on November 15.
The awards race will gather pace in December, with preliminary voting running from December 7 to December 11, followed by the announcement of shortlists on December 15. Nominations voting is slated for January 11 to January 15, 2027, with the nominations themselves to be revealed on January 21.
