William Shatner, the actor known for his role in the Star Trek franchise, dismissed rumours about his health on Thursday through social media. The nonagenarian actor posted a photograph of himself and wrote, "Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated!" He went on to add, “I over indulged. I thank you all for caring but I’m perfectly fine. I keep telling you all: don’t trust tabloids or AI!”

The clarification comes shortly after reports surfaced about him being taken to a hospital in Los Angeles for an emergency on Wednesday. Harry Gold, the agent who represents the actor, told TMZ that he had “an issue with his blood sugar” on Wednesday. While he was taken to the medical facility as a precautionary measure, the actor came back home after getting monitored.

Shatner played Captain James T Kirk in NBC's Star Trek series, as well as seven films in the franchise that followed. More recently, Shatner served as the host and executive producer of The UnXplained: Mysteries of the Universe, where he looks at the strangest, most inexplicable and fascinating mysteries in the universe. He has not officially announced any retirement, either, and is still an active part of public events.
