The upcoming Hulu drama series, The Spot, is all set to be headlined by Emmy-winning actors Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor. The series comes from creator/executive producer Ed Solomon and A24.
Kate Winslet was initially attached to the project as lead and executive producer, but now Danes has replaced her. Having committed to the series back in August 2024 when Hulu landed it, she exited the project in June due to creative reasons. The team then approached Claire Danes to replace her, a few weeks after Kate Winslet's departure. Ewan McGregor joined the project recently.
The series will see a successful surgeon's (Claire Danes) seemingly perfect life unravelling when her schoolteacher husband (Ewan McGregor) suspects she's involved in a hit-and-run accident that left a child dead. As they dig for truth, dark secrets surface, threatening their relationship and forcing them to confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal. Solomon is the creator, writer and showrunner of the series.
Also executive producing alongside Solomon are Robin Sweet and Ariel Kleiman, who will helm the series. Hulu's sister company, 20th Television, will produce alongside the lead studio, A24. The Spot is slated for a premiere in 2026.
Meanwhile, Claire Danes is also teaming up with Homeland co-creator Howard Gordon for the Netflix series The Beast In Me, co-starring Matthew Rhys. Danes recently earned an Emmy nod for Fleishman Is in Trouble. On the other hand, Ewan McGregor, who won the Emmy for Halston, was last seen in the Showtime limited series A Gentleman In Moscow. He's set to appear in the sci-fi film Flowervale Street with Anne Hathaway.
