As the Now You See Me franchise got a third film recently, a decade after the second one in 2016. The movie has grossed $21.3 million in the US alone, with a worldwide collection of $75.5 million during the opening weekend.
Now You See Me: Now You Don't has provided a much-needed tailwind to the production company Lionsgate after Ballerina and Good Fortune bombed at the box office.
In the new movie, helmed by Ruben Fleischer, The Horsemen, played by Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, and Dave Franco, return with another wealth redistribution scheme. Joining them are The Horsemen-to-be: Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt. Rosamund Pike plays the capitalist antagonist in the latest film.
Releasing alongside Now You See Me 3, Glen Powell's The Running Man, directed by Edgar Wright, was pushed to a distant second with an opening weekend collection of $17 million in North America and a paltry $11.2 million worldwide, working up to $28.2 million.
