In a recent interview with Empire, James Cameron revealed that his upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash would be slightly longer as compared to the second film in the franchise. However, Cameron did not reveal the exact runtime back then. According to the latest listings on cinema chains such as Cineplex and AMC, it has a runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes. The official runtime depends on whether Cameron makes last-minute changes or not. If the present runtime stays, it would make Fire and Ash the longest film in the Avatar franchise. As of now, Avatar: The Way of Water holds the distinction of being the longest instalment in the franchise, clocking in at 3 hours and 12 minutes.

Netizens have made interesting responses to the runtime of Avatar: Fire and Ash, with some calling it not long enough for the long wait for its release since the second film in the franchise came out. Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana, Kate Winslet, and Stephen Lang reprise their roles in the epic film. Game of Thrones star Oona Chaplin is also part of the film's cast.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is slated for a December 19 release in theatres. Cameron is expected to make two more instalments in the franchise.
