We had earlier reported that Jake Gyllenhaal is set to headline an upcoming supernatural romantic thriller co-created by Shyamalan and best-selling novelist Nicholas Sparks. Titled Remain, Warner Bros has now set a October 23, 2026 release date. Upon release, the film is expected to clash with Jordan Peele's yet-to-be-titled fourth film.

Remain marks Shyamalan's second collaboration with Warner Bros after the studio released Josh Hartnett's Trap last year. Warners also released Ishana Night Shyamalan’s The Watchers.

The project, based on an original love story developed by the two storytellers, will see Shyamalan directing a film while Sparks simultaneously writes a novel inspired by the same concept which is set to hit stores on October 7, 2025. Phoebe Dynevor and Ashley Walters are also part of the cast.

Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan will produce the film through Blinding Edge Pictures, alongside Sparks’ long-time producing partner Theresa Park and Marc Bienstock. Sparks will serve as executive producer. Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures will produce the film.
