Within a few days after the announcement of Ted Lasso's renewal for season 4, the makers have revealed that they are searching for a new young actor to play Henry, Ted Lasso's (Jason Sudeikis) son.
Gus Turner had portrayed the role till season 3 of Ted Lasso and was mostly seen during FaceTimes with his father, who was coaching soccer in London while Henry remained in Kansas with his mother Michelle (Andrea Anders). Henry also visited London a couple of times during the runtime.
The recasting decision is reportedly due to the need for an actor with stronger soccer skills, as the new season will feature Henry's growing passion for the sport. According to Deadline, Turner has been invited to audition for the role, and it is possible that he will continue to play Henry.
However, the show's producers are also open to casting a new actor in the role.
Ted Lasso is set to go on floors in Kansas where the first episode will be shot. Apart from Sudeikis who will return as Ted Lasso for the upcoming season, no other cast members have been confirmed. Although Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift are expected to return, Apple TV+ is yet to make any confirmation about the returning cast.
Jack Burditt (Modern Family, 30 Rock) has joined Season 4 as an executive producer as part of his overall deal with Apple TV+. Jason Sudeikis will continue as an executive producer alongside Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), Toheeb Jimoh, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Brett Goldstein will take on writing and executive producing duties alongside Leanne Bowen.
Bill Lawrence remains an executive producer through his Doozer Productions banner, working with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. The writing team for the new season includes Sara Walker and Phoebe Walsh, who will also produce, while Sasha Garron steps in as co-producer. Julia Lindon is part of the writing team, and Dylan Marron serves as the story editor.
