Actor and comedian Eddie Murphy didn't just confirm a spinoff based on Donkey character from Shrek, he has also revealed he will take on the memorable role of Inspector Clouseau in the upcoming new Pink Panther film. In a recent interview, he shared the update regarding the Pink Panther film, while also mentioning that he is set to work on the biopic of musician George Clinton and his music collective Parliament-Funkadelic.
“I’ve already started Shrek 5. And I’m going to be — I’m Inspector Clouseau in the next Pink Panther,” he said.
When probed if Jacque Clouseau would still be French, considering he taking over the reigns of the character, Murphy laughed and said, “Maybe. Well, he has to be French, but he could also be Haitian. I will tell you, he’s Black. He’s Black, for sure.”
Began in 1963, The Pink Panther franchise started off with the 1963 comedy film starring Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau. The actor reprised his role in several reboots.
Subsequently, actors Alan Arkin, Roger Moore, Steve Martin and others took up the role. The Pink Panther revolved around the French police detective and the case of a pink diamond which is at the centre of a heist. Much details about the new film are unknown.
Meanwhile, the new Shrek spinoff based on his famous character Donkey, which he voices, is currently in production. Murphy is also reprising the role in Shrek 5.
