The ragtag team of Shrek 5 has a new addition in Zendaya as the voice of Felicia, Shrek and Fiona's daughter, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She joins the existing cast that includes Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Fiona), and Donkey (Eddie Murphy).
The Shrek franchise started in 2001 with a film that tells the story of the titular ogre (Myers) who goes on a quest to save Princess Fiona (Diaz) and bring her back to Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) so that he can reclaim his land from the lord. The film has three sequels—Shrek 2, Shrek The Third, and Shrek Forever After—and the spinoff films with Puss in Boots as the central character. Franchise veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn have been tapped to direct the fifth instalment in the franchise. It is slated for a December 23, 2026, release in theatres.
Dohrn served as an artist-writer for Shrek 2 and Shrek The Third, plus as a story head for Shrek Forever After. On the other hand, Vernon not only directed Shrek 2 but also voiced a character named Gingerbread Man in it.
