The makers of Dexter: Resurrection announced last evening that the latest instalment in the long-standing series will drop on Prime Video on July 12, Saturday. Technically, the release date is July 11 only, but because of the time difference in India, it is dropping tomorrow on the streaming platform.

The new chapter in the serial killer saga continues the story from the events of 2021's Dexter: New Blood. Michael C Hall reprises his role as the former blood splatter analyst who lives a secret life as a vigilante serial killer executing other killers. Jack Alcott and James Remar also come back to the franchise as Dexter's serial killer son Harrison Morgan and his father Harry Morgan, respectively. Meanwhile, David Zayas is back as Dexter's former colleague Angel Batista, and John Lithgow's Trinity Killer makes a brief appearance, as does Jimmy Smits' Miguel Prado. The series introduces franchise newcomers: Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, and Eric Stonestreet, among others.

The original series Dexter released on Showtime in 2006 and ran for eight seasons. The show became a massive hit among the audience, but its finale did not receive favourable reviews. Even Michael C Hall admitted that it failed to live up to the standards of the series up until the finale. Consequently, the makers revamped the Dexter franchise with 2021's New Blood, bringing the titular character's son who learns his father's modus operandi. Dexter: New Blood ends with Harrison Morgan shooting his father in the chest. However, Dexter somehow survives, and the new chapter in the saga is expected to explore his burgeoning dynamic with his son Harry. Dexter also has a prequel series titled Dexter: Original Sin.
