Shogun's Cosmo Jarvis is replaced by Logan Marshall-Green in The Odyssey

The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, is based on Homer's epic poem of the same name and is set to release on July 17, 2026

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has a change in its cast as Cosmo Jarvis has exited the film. Logan Marshall-Green is replacing the Shogun actor, in the cast of Nolan's historical epic.

According to Deadline, Jarvis exited the film due to some scheduling conflicts, shortly before filming started. The details of the character Marshall-Green is stepping into is kept under wraps.

Marshall-Green has appeared in projects like And Just Like That..., the sequel and a revival to Sex and the City, Ridley Scott's Prometheus, and recently in Netflix's Carry-On.

The Odyssey, which is based on Homer's epic poem, follows Odysseus as he undergoes a eventful voyage over 10 years, to get back to his home country of Ithaca. He meets several figures of myth like the cyclops Polyphemus, sirens, and Circe. Back home his wife Penelope waits for him as several suitors try to take over their home.

Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, portraying the lead role in his third time collaborating with Nolan, after Interstellar and Oppenheimer. Tom Holland will portray Telemachus, Odysseus' son, with Charlize Theron as Circe. The rest of the cast includes Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, and Jon Bernthal, amongst others.

A teaser for the film was played in theatres along with Jurassic World: Rebirth. That teaser was leaked online.

The Odyssey is set to release theatrically on July 17, 2026.
