Henry Cavill's Highlander adds Marisa Abela to its cast

The Highlander film, led by Henry Cavill, is directed by Chad Stahelski, who has directed the John Wick films, and also stars Russell Crowe in a key role

Marisa Abela is all set to take her place among immortal warriors, as she joins the cast of Highlander. The action-adventure also reunites Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe, after Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.

While Abela's character details are not yet revealed, the story of Highlander will follow a Connor McLeod a Scottish warrior who discovers he is an immortal, after being mortally wounded in battle. Connor is trained by Ramirez, another immortal, to win the Prize at the Gathering, held at New York City, USA.

The reboot is directed by Chad Stahelski, a stuntman and director, who has directed the John Wick films, all headlined by Keanu Reeves. The script of the film is written by Michael Finch. Scott Stuber, Neal H Moritz, Josh Davis, Louis Rosner, and Stahelski are producing the film. United Artists, Davis Panzer Productions, Lionsgate, and Amazon MGM Studios are backing the film.

Abela is known for her work on HBO's finance drama Industry and for the Amy Winehouse-biopic Back to Black. She was recently seen in Steven Soderbergh's Black Bag, alongside Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett.
