Tom Hardy is stepping away, and Benedict Cumberbatch is stepping in for the Cary Fukunaga-directed crime thriller Blood on Snow. Tom Hardy was set to act and produce Blood on Snow but had to move on from the project due to scheduling issues, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson leads the film, based on the Jo Nesbø novel of the same name, as Olav, a fixer for a crime boss. Joining him, apart from Cumberbatch, are Eva Green, Emma Laird, and Ben Mendelsohn. The story follows Olav as he takes up a job that may be his greatest mistake yet.

Cary Fukunaga is the writer and director behind shows like True Detective and Maniac. He is the director of films like the James Bond films No Time to Die, Beasts of No Nation, and Jane Eyre. He recently directed the first four episodes of Apple TV+'s series Masters of the Air, which was produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg.

Benedict Cumberbatch recently starred in films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was previously in films like The Fall Guy and Nosferatu, will be seen in 28 Years Later, the sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.
