Zach Cregger's latest critically-acclaimed mystery horror film Weapons is finally arriving on OTT. Starring Josh Brolin and Julia Garner in key roles, the film was released in theatres on August 8 to rave reviews and critical ratings. After a five-month-long wait, the film will stream on JioHotstar in India from January 8, 2026.
In Weapons, all but one child from the same classroom taught by Mrs Justine Gandy mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, following which a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance. The rest of the ensemble cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan.
Our CE review of the film read, "From battling a stranger inside one's home to becoming a stranger in one's own home, Weapons is an apt follow-up to Barbarian. Just because the film is A-rated and has gory scenes, Cregger doesn't take the genre for granted. There is a method to his madness. The film is amply filled with every prerequisite of the genre, and as a bonus, it creates an emotional catharsis... a rarity that turns weapons out of one's own trauma."
Along with directing Weapons, Cregger also wrote the script for the film. He produced it with Roy Lee, JD Lifshitz, Raphael Margules, and Miri Yoon. Cregger also handled music for the film with Ryan Holladay and Hays Holladay. Brolin and Michelle Morrissey served as executive producers on the film. New Line Cinema, Subconscious, Vertigo Entertainment, and Boulderlight Pictures backed Weapons, and Warner Bros Pictures had distributed it.
Meanwhile, a prequel for the film is also on cards, confirmed the director in a recent media interaction. The filmmaker also informed that he had the story more or less prepared before Weapons had even released. The prequel story reportedly focuses on the origin story of Aunt Gladys, the main antagonist figure of Weapons.
