Barbarian director Zach Cregger is back with Weapons, a film that he says has more gore and is bigger in terms of scale than his 2022 horror feature. The film, which Cregger produced for Warner Bros Pictures, has opened to rave reviews. Notably, it has earned the approval of Jason Blum, the CEO of Blumhouse Productions, the banner behind many popular horror films, such as Paranormal Activity and The Black Phone, to name two. Blum took to X and wrote, "Weapons is wicked. Go see it, gang."
On the other hand, actor Stephen Ford, known for his titular role in the show Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, called it a "special theater experience that fills your heart." Ford added that the film had "everyone in the theater laughing, roaring and cringing at the same beats," and "then after the credits roll, everyone quickly crowding into the lobby to discuss with friends and strangers."
The film stars Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, and Amy Madigan. It tells a story of all kids from one class, except for one, who go missing at the same time from their homes at midnight.
One of the year's most anticipated films, Weapons reportedly made Get Out filmmaker Jordan Peele terminate his staff after his production company Monkeypaw Productions lost out on the rights to the film to the Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group subsidiary New Line Cinema.
