Leonardo DiCaprio spoke about his character in the upcoming action thriller, Heat 2. DiCaprio confirmed his involvement in the film, in an interview with Deadline.

Michael Mann's Heat (1995), followed the story of Lt Vincent Hanna's (Al Pacino) pursuit of serial bank robber Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) and his gang. While the performances of De Niro and Pacino were appreciated, Val Kilmer as Chris Shiherlis was also well received.

While DiCaprio said he is working out with Mann on the character he is supposed to be playing, he said, "We can’t duplicate what Heat was, so it’s paying homage to that film, but giving it its own unique entity."

The cast of the film also includes Jon Voight, Tom Sizemore, Diane Venora, Danny Trejo, Mykelti Williamson, Dennis Haybert, and a young Natalie Portman.

The film has been described as a circumquel, with Adam Driver reportedly playing a younger version of Neil McCauley.
