Netflix’s Heartstopper is heading toward its big-screen conclusion, and star Kit Connor is teasing what fans can expect from the final chapter.
Connor recently revealed that audiences should brace for a romantic high point in the story. “We shot quite a steamy scene yesterday,” he shared in a chat with Louis Partridge for VMan. “So again, throwing myself on the ground in a different way.”
Connor also described the physical preparation involved, noting, “So I was doing rugby training today, hence all the mud and lovely stuff—my favourite thing to do.” To which Partridge jokingly replied, “If it isn’t rugby training, it’s SEAL training. That’s just amazing.”
The movie serves as the conclusion to Alice Oseman’s beloved LGBTQ teen romance, adapted from her graphic novels. Joe Locke, who stars opposite Connor as Charlie Spring, has described the film as “a really nice closing chapter of the story.”
Apart from playing the protagonists, Kit Connor and Joe Locke also serve as executive producers of the finale. Connor and Locke are returning as leads from the series, along with creator Alice Oseman, whose upcoming sixth volume is being made into a film. The graphic novel is set to be released later this year.
The coming-of-age TV series tells the story of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a gay teen boy who falls in love with classmate Nick (Nicholas) Nelson (Kit Connor), whom he sits next to in his new form. It also explores the lives of their friendship group: Tao Xu (William Gao), Elle Argent (Yasmin Finney), Isaac Henderson (Tobie Donovan), Tara Jones (Corinna Brown), and Darcy Olsson (Kizzy Edgell).
