Will Poulter, Kit Connor, and Manu Ríos to star in medieval zombie horror, Rapture

Will Poulter, Kit Connor, and Manu Ríos are set to lead Rapture, a genre-bending mediaeval horror drama from playwright and debut filmmaker Jordan Tannahill. The highly anticipated project, blending historical drama with supernatural terror, has locked major UK and U.S. distribution deals during the Cannes market, where the film has sparked significant buyer interest.

Set in 1348 Yorkshire at a secluded stone monastery, Rapture follows ten monks whose austere, devotional lives are upended when a mysterious outsider arrives at Lansley Abbey. His presence marks the beginning of a terrifying outbreak — a haemorrhagic fever that transforms its victims into undead revenants. As the infection spreads and desperate survivors seek shelter, the monks must choose between preserving ancient knowledge or aiding the afflicted. Torn by moral conflict, the brothers descend into a chilling spiral of sacrifice, betrayal, and spiritual reckoning.

Tannahill, an acclaimed Canadian novelist and playwright based in London, brings his award-winning narrative style to the screen for the first time. Cinematographer Eli Arenson (Lamb) is on board the project as cinematographer. The production is set to begin later this year in Hungary. Producers include Elevation Pictures, 2AM, and Brookstreet Pictures.

The cast reunites Poulter and Connor after their recent turn in Alex Garland’s Warfare, while Ríos was last seen in Pedro Almodóvar’s Strange Way of Life.
