In what will be a case of 'life coming full circle', Sooni Taraporevala, the scribe of Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay!, will write a biopic based on photographer Vicky Roy. Vicky, who ran away from his home in Purulia, West Bengal, was rescued by a concerned citizen, and admitted to the Salaam Baalak Trust, an NGO created after Salaam Bombay! highlighted the plight of young children on the streets of Mumbai.

The film is titled Street Dreams after Vicky's first solo show, which was held in 2007 at The India Habitat Gallery, New Delhi. Mauktik Kulkarni is serving as producer under his Nirvana Films banner.

Sooni Taraporevala has written the scripts for three Mira Nair directorials, Salaam Bombay!, Mississippi Masala, and The Namesake. She has also written for Such a Long Journey and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Vicky Roy, while on a six-month residency at the New York's International Centre of Photography, documented the ruins of the World Trade Centre, after the September 11 attacks. He received an MIT Media Fellowship (2014), and was named in Forbes' Asian 30 Under 30 list, in 2016.
