Comedian Matt Rife is stepping into the paranormal world in a big way. In a surprise announcement on Friday, Rife revealed that he and ghost hunter Elton Castee have officially purchased the late Ed and Lorraine Warren’s home and famed Occult Museum, which is home to the real-life Annabelle doll that inspired The Conjuring franchise.

“I have officially purchased Ed and Lorraine Warren’s home and Occult Museum, including being the legal guardian for at least the next 5 years of the entire haunted collection, including THE ANNABELLE DOLL, with my good friend @eltoncastee!!” Rife shared in an Instagram post. The caption accompanied a photo carousel, the first featuring the pair posing with the notorious doll.

Rife, who recently released his stand-up special Lucid, has long expressed his fascination with the paranormal. “If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with the paranormal and all things haunted,” he wrote. “You also may know The Conjuring films are my favourite scary movies of all time. So I’m incredibly honoured to have taken over one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history.”

Crediting the Warrens as “the very heart of some of the most famous haunted stories of all time,” Rife referenced iconic cases like The Conjuring House and The Amityville Horror, noting their pivotal role in bringing demonology and the paranormal into the mainstream.

The museum, once run by Lorraine Warren until her passing in 2019 at age 92, was closed to the public that same year due to zoning restrictions. Now, Rife and Castee plan to reopen the property with a new twist.

“We plan to open the house for overnight stays and museum tours so you yourself can experience and learn all the haunted history surrounding this amazing place,” Rife revealed.

The timing of the announcement aligns with renewed buzz around The Conjuring universe. The Conjuring: Last Rites, the fourth and final film in the main franchise, is set to hit theatres on September 5.
