The first official teaser for the fourth and final Conjuring film, The Conjuring: Last Rites, was unveiled by Warner Bros. on Thursday. The film is the ninth instalment in The Conjuring universe and is a sequel to The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021).
The teaser shows the final case that paranormal investigator duo Ed and Lorraine Warren take up and haunting visuals that justify why that ends up as their final case. More details about the film’s plot are undisclosed.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga can be seen reprising their roles as Ed and Lorraine in the teaser. Ben Hardy, Mia Tomlinson, Tony Spera, Steve Coulter, Rebecca Calder, Elliot Cowan, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, John Brotherton and Shannon Kook also star.
From a script by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, Michael Chavez has directed The Conjuring: Final Rites. Chavez has previously helmed 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and the 2023 Conjuring spinoff The Nun II. The Conjuring: Last Rites is scheduled to release on September 5, 2025.
Directed by James Wan and produced by Peter Safran, 2013’s The Conjuring established the franchise’s mythology, following paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) as they work to help a family terrorised by a dark presence in their farmhouse. James Wan and Peter Safran, who have produced several previous Conjuring films, return as producers for The Last Rites.
The success of The Conjuring led to several spin-offs and sequels. In addition to the original film, there are The Conjuring 2 (2016) and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021). The Annabelle doll also inspired three films: Annabelle (2014), its prequel Annabelle: Creation (2017), and a sequel, Annabelle Comes Home (2019). Two films featuring the demon nun Valak have been released: The Nun (2018) and its follow-up, The Nun II (2023). Additionally, a new Conjuring TV series is in the works at Max, which will also be executive produced by Peter Safran.
