Dearest gentle readers, the marriage mart has officially opened for Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). Days after Yerin Ha joined the cast of the British regency drama series as Thompson's romantic interest, the makers of Bridgerton Season 4 announced that the hit show has officially joined on floors. The first-look pictures of the lead actors Thompson and Ha were also shared by Netflix and Shondaland.
"Esteemed members of the Ton, it is with great joy that we inform you that Bridgerton Season 4 is officially in production!" they wrote. The current season will be based on Julia Quinn's third Bridgerton novel titled, An Offer From a Gentleman.
Korean-Australian actor Yerin Ha will play Sophie Baek in Bridgerton season 4. New cast members who have been added include Katie Leung, who will play the widowed Lady Araminta Gun, while Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei will portray the roles of Araminta's daughters Rosamund Li and Posy Li, respectively.
As per the official logline for the season, “The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.” A release date for the series has not been revealed.
The returning cast members of the drama series include Jonathan Bailey, Ruth Gemmell, Hannah Dodd, Florence Hunt, Claudia Jessie and Will Tilston. Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan, who led the third season are also expected to return. Victor Alli, Adjoa Andoh, Lorraine Ashbourne, Masali Baduza, Daniel Francis, Martins Imhangbe, Emma Naomi, Golda Rosheuvel, Hugh Sachs, Polly Walker and Julie Andrews, round out the supporting cast of the series.
A release date for Bridgerton season 4, which is set to have eight episodes, is yet to be announced. Showrunner Jess Brownell returns to direct the fourth season which will be produced by Shonda Rhimes‘ master company Shondaland.
