We had previously reported that actor Erin Ha has been confirmed to play the leading lady in Bridgerton's upcoming fourth season. The Korean-Australian actor is set to play the romantic interest of Luke Thompson's Benedict in the Netflix series. The story will be based on Julia Quinn's third Bridgerton novel titled, An Offer From a Gentleman.

Best known for her role in Paramount+ series adaptation of the Halo video games, the 2022 horror film Sissy, the 2019 crime drama Reef Break and other TV projects, Ha will play Sophie Baek in the show, a significant change from the character name Sophie Beckett in the books. According to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Jess Brownell worked with Ha to come up with a Korean surname for the character out of respect for Ha’s culture.

Ha revealed that Brownell consulted her on Korean surnames starting with a 'B', eventually choosing "Baek" to better align with Ha's personal identity.

"It's a really nice way for me to feel like the role is fit for me, rather than me having to fit a certain mold," Ha explained, adding, "It's amazing what it can do just in a psychological sense. So it means a lot that Jess did that for me."

Ha expressed her intrigue in the role, emphasising Sophie's challenges. "What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles -- something that she constantly has to overcome," Ha said, adding, "Whether it's this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict," during the interview.

Ha and Thompson have already begun rehearsing their dance sequences, with Thompson humorously noting that he has only stepped on Ha's toes once.

As per the official logline for the season, “The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.” A release date for the series has not been revealed.

Apart from Bridgerton Season 4, Ha has several exciting projects in her kitty including the 2025 mini-series The Survivors where she will be starring opposite Ian Bliss of Late Night with the Devil-fame. She also stars in a key role in the upcoming much-anticipated Dune: Prophecy, which will be released in November this year. She is playing Young Kasha in the sci-fi spinoff show.
