Apart from directing the comedy-drama Last Night At The Lobster, Narcos actor Wagner Moura will also star in the film along with Sofia Carson, Brian Tyree Henry and Elisabeth Moss.
Synopsis of the film, produced by Peter Saraf and Eddie Rubin of Optimistic Pictures, reads, "Manny, manager of a chain seafood restaurant, arrives to work a week before Christmas to discover that the restaurant is closing down and he must choose who to take with him to the next location. As the day wears on, the team gets snowed in by a blizzard, so they decide to enjoy their one final night at The Lobster."
The film is adapted from the novel by Stewart O'Nan, which Moura said he was preparing to make for the past 30 years. Apart from being a holiday film with "heightened emotion" and "heartwarming message," he said it evoked films about the working class, which was an integral part of cinematic storytelling that influenced him growing up in Brazil.
This will be Moura's second directorial after Marighella in 2019, in addition to directing some episodes of Narcos. His acting credits include Civil War and Elite Squad.
The film, with screenplay by Carlo Bernard, Doug Miro, Eboni Booth and Jane Anderson, is under pre-production and will go on floors early next year.
