Earlier, we had reported that the multi-hyphenated film personality Maggie Gyllenhaal would be directing an upcoming film titled The Bride of Frankenstein, with Christian Bale leading the cast. The latest update is that the film has been renamed The Bride and is scheduled to release on October 3, 2025. Furthermore, the upcoming film features a star-studded cast, including Jessie Buckley, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, and Penelope Cruz.

Besides directing, Maggie will also serve as the writer and producer of the film. The film is also co-produced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler, and Osnat Handelsman-Keren.

The official logline of the film, as per Deadline, reads," A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to seek the aide of a Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself. The two reinvigorate a murdered young woman, and the Bride is born. She is beyond what either of them intended, igniting a combustible romance, the attention of the police and a wild and radical social movement."

It is to be noted that the The Bride will mark Maggie's second directorial venture after The Lost Daughter (2021).
