Greta Gerwig's Barbie, that hit theatres alongside Oppenheimer, was nominated in 8 categories at the 96th Academy Awards. However, the film ended up winning only in 1 category, namely the Original Song category.

Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell took home the trophy under this category for the song 'What Was I Made For' from Barbie. Barbie's 'I'm Just Ken' was also nominated under the category. Other nominees include 'The Fire Inside' from Flamin' Hot, 'It Never Went Away' from American Symphony, and 'Wahzhazhe' from Killers Of The Flower Moon.

By winning the award for Best Original Song, 22-year-old Eilish has become the youngest to receive two career Oscars. Previously Luise Rainer had the record for winning her second Oscar for Best Actress at the age of 28 in the year 1938. The second youngest to have this record is Eilish's brother O'Connell, the 26-year-old who penned the lyrics for 'What Was I Made For'. The pair won their first Oscar for No Time to Die in 2021

Dedicating the award to "everyone affected by the movie and how incredible it was," Eilish further said, "I feel so incredibly lucky and honoured," on receiving the award.

Barbie was also nominated in other categories such as Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Picture, Best Production Design, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Costume Design.
