Killers of the Flower Moon star, Lily Gladstone said that she is not feeling hurt about losing out to Emma Stone on Best Actress Oscar earlier this year. In fact, Gladstone even argued that it is not fair to make one piece of art compete with another in such a way.

Speaking to Variety, Gladstone stated, Emma and I talked about it, and had wonderful conversations about how ridiculous it is to place art in competition. Awards are supposed to be giving accolades to the art no matter what. It’s like you’re awarding just by acknowledging and nominating, really, but then this competitive nature takes over. How does that work in something so subjective and personal as art?

Many film buffs and critics fancied Gladstone to win the award for her performance in Martin Scorsese's crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon. It revolves around how the Osage folks marry Native Americans such as Mollie Burkhart to eventually get what belongs to them. It shows Burkhart's suffering at the hands of the Osage and how she braves through it.

Gladstone also responded to the notion that it would have increased her chances of wining an Oscar had she campaigned for the Best Supporting Actress instead. It doesn’t make sense to me. The heart of the whole story, the access point for the humanity, is Osage. I never saw Mollie as a supporting role, she said.

Gladstone was last seen in Fancy Dance and will next be seen in Jazzy.
