We had earlier reported that Sony Pictures is working on I know What You Did Last Summer reboot. The makers have now finalised the lead actors for the reebot of the cult classic 90s film. Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Hauer-King have joined the cast. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are also in talks to reprise their roles from the first film.

Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson of Netflix's Someone Great (2019) and Do Revenge (2022) fame, the reboot of the slasher flick is scheduled to be released in theatres on July 18, 2025.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson co-wrote the screenplay along with Sam Lansky after an initial script from Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz, one of the producers of the original, is also producing the reboot.

The new movie will be the fourth film entry in the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise. The original film, directed by Jim Gillespie, was released in October 1997. It was penned by Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson and based on the 1973 novel of the same name from author Lois Duncan. The original film was followed by the 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and 2006’s I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer. In 2021, the franchise was reimagined as a television series that debuted on Prime Video.

I Know What You Did Last Summer will be clashing with Naked Gun reboot at the box office. The latter is directed by Akiva Schaffer that features Liam Neeson as bumbling detective Frank Drebin.
