Denzel Washington to play Hannibal in Antoine Fuqua's film

Actor Denzel Washington is set to play Hannibal, the Carthaginian general who famously led an army of warriors and elephants across the Alps to fight the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War.

While the film is yet to get a title, it is will be directed by Antoine Fuqua who has earlier worked with the actor in Training Day and The Equalizer films. The film will be written by John Logan, with Denzel and Antoine also serving as producers under Hill District Media banner.

A release date for the film is yet to be announced, along with the additional cast and crew members. The project is attached to Netflix.
