Actors Holt McCallany and Julianne Nicholson are set to star in the upcoming thriller Amateur headlined by Rami Malek. The film is backed by 20th Century Studios.

Others part of the cast include Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Laurence Fishburne and Adrian Martinez. Amateur is based on a novel written by Robert Littell and charts out the story of a CIA cryptographer Charles Heller who is on a mission to revenge the terrorist who killed his wife. After his bosses do not lend him support, he blackmails into training him and takes on the mission to finish his target himself.

Amateur is directed by James Hawes, with screenplay adapted by Ken Nolan. Scott Frank and Gary Spinelli have also worked on the script. The film is produced by Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson with Rami serving as executive producer.
