Melanie Lynskey has joined the cast of The Tattooist of Auschwitz. She will be joining existing cast members Jonah Hauer-King and Anna Prochaniak in the book-turned-series. The series is a true story with elements of trauma, heartbreaking and hope. It is set in one of the most gut-wrenching and horrifying places in history.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is based on Heather Morris' book of the same name. The Tattooist of Auschwitz revolves around Hauer-King's character Lale Sokolow, a prisoner at a Jewish concentration camp who is given the responsibility of tattooing identification numbers on incoming prisoners.  Lale is one of the first people to meet Gita Furman (Prochaniak) when she enters the prison, and the two immediately feel a connection. The rest of the series deals with a story of love in one of the darkest places in history.

Tali Shalom-Ezer will be directing all six episodes of The Tattooist of Auschwitz.  Lynskey will play the role of the book's author Morris, thereby becoming the narrator of the story. No release date has been set for The Tattooist of Auschwitz, but production is underway.
