Sarah Polley to direct live-action adaptation of Bambi

Director Sarah Polley will be helming the upcoming live-action adapatation of the upcoming Disney project Bambi.

Bambi is about a young deer that loses his mother, thus leaving him to fend for himself amid the threats posed by the world. The animated feature was one of the renowned works of Disney and has gained a classic cult status over time.

The film, which is currently in the nascent stages of development, is yet to be get a release date. However, it adds itself to the list of live-action adaptation of Disney's previous works. Recently The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan and Wendy were adapated with Mufasa: The Lion King and Moana at works.

Sarah's last film, Women Talking, starring Rooney Mara and Claire Foy, was about a drama troupe consisting of women who bear the brunt of abuse. It won the filmmaker the Best Adapted Screenplay Academy Award this year.
