Girls Trip sequel to be set in Ghana 

The 2017 film starred actors Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish

The sequel to the 2017 American comedy film Girls Trip, starring actors Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish, will be set in West Africa’s Ghana.

Speaking at Sundance, Tracy Oliver who co-wrote the story and screenplay of Girls Trip, shared the update about the sequel and confirmed that it will be officially happening. The sequel will be set in Ghana.

Girls Trip is about four friends who travel to New Orleans to attend the Essence Music Festival to get reconnected after a long gap. The film was produced by Will Packer and Malcolm and co-written by Olvier and Kenya Barris from a story they conceived with Erica Rivinoja. It was directed by Malcolm D Lee and won multiple awards in addition to being a commercial success. However, a timeline as to when the sequel will start is yet to be decided.

Meanwhile, Tracy is expecting the release of second season of Harlem which will release on February 3 on Prime Video.
