Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently announced that it did not feel right to recast the role of T’Challa soon after the death of Boseman. Although it has been earlier speculated that either Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in the film, or Lupita Nyong'o, who plays Nakia, might take up the mantle of Black Panther, it has not been confirmed yet.

Namor from the Marvel comics will be the central antagonist in the film. Namor in the film will be portrayed by Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta. Ryan Coogler returns to direct the sequel, he co-wrote the film along with Joe Robert Cole. The cast list for the film also includes Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett.  Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will end phase four of the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe.
