The new feature-length adaptation of American playwright Eugene O'Neill’s play Long Day's Journey Into Night has wrapped filming. The four-act play was first published in 1956 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for O’Neill in 1957.

Generally considered one of the greatest American plays of the 20th century, Long Day's Journey Into Night was adapted into a feature film several times over the years. The most famous adaptation of the play was the 1962 film directed by Sidney Lumet which went on to win Katherine Hepburn an Oscar nomination for her role in the film.

The recent film adaptation of the play is directed by British theater and opera director Jonathan Kent who will be making his feature directorial debut with the film. Long Day's Journey Into Night revolves around the Tyrone family which consists of a husband and wife and their two sons, the story takes place over the course of a single day.

The cast of the film includes Academy Award winners Jessica Lange and Ed Harris who play the husband and wife while Ben Foster and Colin Morgan play their sons. The makers are yet to confirm a release date for the film.
